Torrential overnight rain turned Traralgon into a mass of
river torrents that eventually caused the cancellation of Day 3, but
not before about 20 of the leading bikes had been \"drowned\"
in the swirling muddy waters. Officials let those whose bikes
had suffered engine damage go back to the work area and rebuild. This
worked well for Douggy Herbert of New Plymouth whose KTM
was stuck in 4th, and Steven Bird of Pahiatua
who had sucked some water into his Suzuki RM250. Another
rebuild and exit one more piston.
Day 4 is on well drained sandy soil so hopefully everyone will get
a full days riding in.
