Ben Townley Injured.
Young motocross sensation Ben Townley has been injured in a practice crash in California.
The New Zealand-born 18-year-old is receiving hospital care for a liver injury after falling at a supercross track today (30 Dec US time). Townley also has a broken wrist and will miss several weeks of racing.
A factory rider with KTM, he was to have raced the January rounds of the American supercross championship for the Red Bull team, starting this weekend in Los Angeles.
Early reports suggest Townley will be back in time for the world 125 championship, commencing in late March. This year, in his first full season, the youngster impressed with a sixth placing in the title series.
