The man behind the very successful Suzuki Road Race series, Tim Gibbes, has announced that he will not be running the series in 2003.
He will be available to look after the electronic timing but he and wife, Joan are too committed to organise the whole event.
There are calls for someone [or some people] to step up and keep the Series running.
Is that person you?
It is essential that this successful Road Race concept should continue. It has provided a launching pad for many riders into the Sport and at the same time provided good spirited competition.
But Tim is going to be a hard man to replace. He`s done all the little things right and that provides for a perfect big picture. He is a great example of what I alluded to in my article questionng the promotion of MX in NZ. More of that calibre of promotion and Motorcycle Sport would become a major sport in New Zealand. Now we seem to be taking a step back by losing Tim as an organiser.
