The Wynns 2000 Wellington Motard and Miniature Road Racing Enduro Championships.27 October.

The forecasted showers stayed away for the meeting to be run in fine but cool conditions at the Wellington Kart track at Kaitoke,Upper Hutt.

The Motard One Hour was run first, the entry list was not large, but that was made up with very competitive riding.A compulsory pit stop had to be done by all runners and consisted of lifting front and rear wheels of the ground.Neil Holden got the jump on the feild at the start but was soon caught by the flying trio of Brent Symes,Craig Sullivan and Brent Neilson.

The pair of Brent Symes and Brent Neilson, both from Hastings, made the trip to the Capital worthwhile by collecting first and third.Wellingtons Craig Sullivan the split the Hawkes Bay pair by taking second.John Faithfull was rewarded for the trip from Auckland by slotting into fourth.Sullivan and Holden competed in both Enduros,Sullivan with Mike Lockwood and Holden with Sawyer Motorcycles man Brendon Keogh.

In the Bucket Enduro Championship event it was quite noticeable the number of current and former National Points competitors riding. Former F3 rider Bayden Sprozen teamed with Derek McAdam,Stephen Coombes/Barry New,Dean Archer/Craig Frethey,Darren Gosper,Anthony McCarthy/Hamish Laing,Dave Trustrum and John Lord.Jarrod Wintle was back after a serious crash at Manfeild in September, and with co rider Glen Magson was the first 125 over the line.

Another on the recovery list was Grant Russell who had an off at Manfeild breaking a leg and is hopeful of riding in the Four Hour Enduro coming up. Another of Wellingtons leading road racers,Johan Bruns, was rumoured to be riding but the ride fell through.

Teenagers Ryan Scullion,Jay Lawrence and Mason Wilkie all had uneventful days and all rode in the Two Hour Enduro. As in the Motard event,a pitstop was compulsory and it required the spark plug to be removed and replaced after running around to the other side of the bike. The Coombes/New ZXR 140 was troubled by a misfire which finally sorted it self out and at one stage Fish was warming up the 50, would have made the Steward, who just happened to be Barry's dad, check on the legality of the swap....

The Auckland pairing of Warwick Snow and John Faithfull ended up in fifth, whilst the Iron Man trophy went to New Plymouth's Greg Gaston who did the Two Hours by himself. The first 50 home was the Aprilia pairing of Laing and McCarthy.
