Didn`t He Do Well:

Now that the mud has settled and the traffic infringement notices have been issued it is interesting to look at the overall results of the 77th International Six Days Enduro.

Like any ISDE, it was never going to be a doddle and if you have seen pictures of some of the ruts you will agree. One could not help thinking why anyone would wish to subject themselves to that sort of ordeal and it is probably a question a lot of riders would have directed to themselves in their various native tongues over the past 6 days.
Nonetheless it is now over and featured below are the riders, the machine type and size that were the most sucessful over the last 6 days in Jabolonec, Czech Republic.

Overall Results:
1st Mika Ahola -VOR 500 4T
2nd Anders Eriksson - Husq 500 4T
3rd Samulli Aro - Husq 250 2T
4th Juha Salminen - KTM 400 4T
5th David Knight - Yam 250 2T
6th David Fretigne - Yam 250 4T
7th Paul Edmondsen - Husq 400 4T
8th Stefan Merriman - Husq 125 2T
9th Marc Germaine - Yam 250 4T
10th Bjorne Carlsson - Husa 500 4T
11th Jani Laaksonen - Gas Gas 250 2T
12thjohan Boonen - KTM 500 4T
13th Kari Tiainen - KTM 500 4T
14th Fabien Planet - Husq 250 2T
15th Stefano Passerl - KTM 250 2T

You will note that in the first 15 overall finishers there is only one 125cc machine.
That was Husqvarna ridden by the Kiwi Stefan Merriman who lives sometimes in Italy, Australia or albeit briefly, New Zealand.
A sensational result riding in a class that would not be best suited to cope with the conditions in that event and as far as I am aware, the only rider in Jabolonec nad Nisou last week with any ties to NZ.
Yes, quite a result, but one which is now almost expected from him, such is his professionalism and consistency on a very competitive International stage.
