It’s become NZ’s Trail Riders’ annual get away and gathering. A time to ride some unique trails, catch up with friends and enjoy the entertainment package that is ‘Suzuki Desert Storm’.

600 riders per day made the 2001 Suzuki Desert Storm event one of NZ’s biggest and most popular 2 day trail rides.

SUZUKI DESERT STORM is set to rock on October 19-20 2002.
The main change for the 2002 event is more single track and less road than 2001. Organisers are busy right now cutting interesting trails on the base of Mt Ruapehu. Enduro legend Sean Clarke, will be in charge of making some more trails and clearing the snow damaged trees off the main tracks with his 8 Tonne Skidder. There will be at least two main trails of around 50-60 km each plus a novice track.

And for mind blowing entertainment, it doesn’t come any better than Freestyle Motocross. The Palmy FMX crew including Vodafone X Air champ Suzuki rider Nick Franklin will be putting on an aerial display Saturday night using the huge all metal up and down ramps.

And it doesn’t stop there… There is also free coaching all weekend by Suzuki’s Cam Negus and Sam Arundel, Army cooked meals, free camping (separate quiet and noisy zones), a big marquee for socialising, groovy sounds, a cinema including video footage of the weekends activities, comprehensive and competent medical back up, free mechanical service plus parts and accessories for sale.

If you’d rather have a motel bed than camp, then the place to stay is the Turoa Ski Lodge, 10 Thames St, The Junction in Ohakune, Ph 06 3858274 or e mail -Ski Lodge E-mail.

For the first time at Desert Storm there will be the full Suzuki DRZ range available for test riding including the super fun DRZ 125 right up to the mighty DRZ 400 for the big boys. And of course, if you are into 4 wheels, then you can try the new Suzuki LTZ 400 quad. Powered by a DRZ 400 motor, this thing will redefine your perception of quads.

To enter go to epicevents.co.nz or call Debbie at 025 2844811 or Nick at 021 983 766.

All riders that pre-enter get a discounted entry, can order the meals, go into the draw to win an Orina trail jacket plus three entry refunds so call your mates and pre-book a great weekend now.
