Vangani Report:

Nasdarovia!! In a fitting grand finale, the Big Five Vangani Racing kids left it to the last GP of the season to produce their best collective result of the season. The GP circus cannot complain that they have not had the opportunity of racing in exotic locations this season, and the last GP in the heart of Mother Russia was probably the best indication of this.

Carved out of a quarry, the track was rated by many as the best and most spectacular of the season. Comrade trackbuilder had done his job well, and deserves a medal. The track offered excellent views, and presented a serious technical challenge to the riders. The famous Vangani Racing Cossacks formed part of the Western invasion force taking part in the (not so) Cold War.

The rider formerly known as Comrade Tanel Leok again had to qualify to participate in the race, but again he made small work of it, displaying the superior technology of his Western-manufactured motorcycle. Coming from a fairly good start, Leomaster drew cheers from the many Estonian fans that had come to see the race, claiming the flag in second spot.

In the timed qualifying session, Tyla Rattray and Ben Townley set the fourth – and fifth fastest times respectively, and the scene was set for a war of the worlds. At the start of the war, Townley got away like an intercontinental ballistic missile, and slotted into second spot, behind Dutch rider Marc De Reuver. He shadowed De Reuver for a number of laps, spying on his lines, and on lap 13, he eliminated the enemy. For the next three laps, Townley enjoyed world dominance, but on the day, he was not destined to claim victory. Steve Ramon, who still had a chance of claiming the world crown, was on fire, and came from the depths of the field to move into the lead three laps from the end. Townley but up a brave and patriotic battle, but victory went to the Dutchman, with Ben in second spot.

Judging by the number of Estonian flags around the circuit, Tanel Leok’s secret service had managed to infiltrate the masses successfully. A poor start left the Estonian well down the field , right amongst the worker class. He gritted his teeth and got down to the job at hand. He eliminated agents from many countries as he moved to the front, and in the latter stages of the race he claimed the scalps of teammate Tyla Rattray and multiple GP winner Kenneth Gundersen. As the black and white flag waved (very unpatriotic, that), comrade Tanel came home in sixth spot, for one of his best results this season.

Tyla Rattray had quite possibly his worst start of the season, getting away stone last. He furiously slashed through the pack, using his secret Lazer beams. He soon found himself amongst the top 10 Cossacks, and heading for his second-best GP result. He only yielded one position during the race, to an on-fire teammate Leok, but he reclaimed some points by passing Gundersen just before the end of the war – sorry, race. Ironically, a lacklustre ride by his standards, yielded Tyla his second best result in a GP, with seventh spot being credited to his tally for the season.

With three riders in the top seven, the team produced its best overall result in a GP yet, and as the glasses of Vodka were raised, the team could reflect on a successful campaign. Ben Townley finished 6th in the world, Tyla Rattray seventh, and Tanel Leok managed to creep up to 20th spot in the world rankings, despite missing four GP’s.

The statistics for the season of 12 GP’s make for interesting reading. Here follows the dissemination of some (dis)information to completely brainwash the masses of sponsors and supporters:

One GP victory;
Five podium finishes (excluding the victory);
Sixteen top 10 finishes;
Points-scoring finishes in every single GP of the season.

All we want to say, is that we think that this is very good. Spasiba.

(Note – Our apologies for the delay in sending this report. Your much overworked reporter has spent the time since the GP travelling back to the decadent West, meeting sponsors, arranging world peace, etc. The Politburo has meted out harsh punishment, and your reporter is suitably chastized. Honest.)
