MJ Church Press Release:

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MOTOCROSS ROUND 10 GAILDORF, GERMANY :

M J Church Kawasaki rider Tallon Vohland finished up in 14 position at Round 10 of the World Motocross Championship, held at Gaildorf in Germany this weekend.

After a strong ride in his heat race the Lone Wolf was ready for the main on Sunday and put in a solid ride for 14 place.

The 29 year old gated mid pack and narrowly missed crashing in the third turn, with track conditions at their roughest the racing was close and by the seventh lap the American ace was up to tenth place, but one mistake saw him lose 3 places two laps later.

By mid race Vohland began to tire, still not fully race fit after being off the bike for 2 months he settled into a steady pace, a final burst on the last three laps, moved him one place higher and up to 21st position in the championship standings.

"I have been training hard, but there is nothing like racing, I have been off the bike for a while but am slowly getting back to a good level of fitness. The track conditions here were very rough and the pace at World Championship is very fast, so I tired just after mid race, I picked up some points and that’s always satisfying".

But it wasn’t all success for the Kawasaki backed team at the German Round. 125 rider Espen Blikstad failed to make the main race after a start crash in the tough LCQ that left him nursing a shoulder injury.

After x-rays it was confirmed that there were no broken bones but possibly some damage to the ligaments, the 26 year old returned home to Sweden for treatment and hopes to be fit for the Swedish Championship this weekend.

In the 250cc class Darryl Atkins qualified in 28th position, leaving him on the outside of the gate. The Kiwi was in the last few around the first turn and had a lot of work to do, in the first few laps he made good progress but arm pump soon set in and Darryl had to settle for 26 position. "I had a really bad cold this week and didn’t feel so good, it was also quite warm so I did get tired quickly, but I am improving and will keep working towards picking up a couple of points by the end of the season"

The H M Plant backed team have a busy week ahead, they will prepare for round five of the British Championship to be held at Pontrilas on Sunday and then onto Petersfield for the Ken Hall International on Monday.
