Tim`s Off: *UPDATED*

Posted: Thu 15 Aug 2002

Sixteen year old Tim Curr of Blenheim attends Marlborough Boys College [5th form].
Don`t know about his academic record but his resume includes; current NZ 85cc MX and SX Champion 13-16yr age group, reigning NZ 12-14yrs 125 SX Champion, South Island 85cc MX champion, # 3 in the 15-16yr NZ 125cc SX, 5th at Woodville in the same class and 11th at the NZ Nationals.

Tim is supported by Yamaha NZ & Yamalube.

Now Tim is off for a sojourn in Europe. He will be competing at the Junior World Cup at Moeggers in Austria :Click Here: 23rd-25th August in the 125cc class, the age group wording in the rules was very vague and he is only just too old to race an 80.
He is there with much help from Trevor Gill, the MNZ CEO, who managed to secure a place for Tim as an Australian as they were not sending a team this year.

Each country can only send 3 riders per class and MNZ had already given places to 3 other NZ 125 riders prior to the age group ruling, thus requiring the Aussie deal.
[So if/when he becomes a World Champion you can just bet that they will call him an Aussie!]

Tim will be racing a 2003 Yamaha YZ125 prepared and supported by Motorsport Burmeister in Germany. They have applied to Dorna for a start for Tim in the World 125GP at Loket CZ the following weekend.
Tim will be accompanied by his Father/Mechanic Noel on the trip.
