Spectro Oils Mainland MX Report - By Moto Sports Unlimited:

A cold but clear day greeted riders for the inaugural Spectro Oils Mainland MX.

Competitors had travelled from the length of the South Island to attend and this showed in the number of gates in all classes.
A good selection of the South`s top riders turned out in Canterbury to display a vast talent including former NZ Champion Graeme Allan, who put on a fine display of riding and some wicked whips for the crowd, always a pleasure to watch this master in action.

Senior 125 saw Brad Norton as the man to beat in this class riding a KTM125, he rode to 3 straight wins leading in Andrew Richardt RM125 for 2nd place.

Shaun McFadden 3rd

Switching bikes to a KX250 saw Brad Norton being beaten to 1st by Mark Thompson CR250 by a small margin in the Senior 250 with the result.

The thundering Open class saw a wide range of machines hitting the start gates including a couple of 2 strokes in a field that is now filled by 4 strokes. Leading this charge was Joe Vavasour on his exotic VOR MX450, Yamaha 426 mounted Mark Meadows following in 2nd spot.

Tim McDonald 3rd

Adam Thompson had ridden consistently to hold onto 1st in Junior 125 followed by Jared Pyke and the result was:

The premier race of the day was the Pro Class pitting 125 against 520 and giving spectators the best racing of the day. As the race wore on it was Joe Vavasour on the black VOR 450 who again stamped his dominance on the field to cross in 1st with a comfortable lead.
