Motorex KTM rider Craig Anderson’s lead in the Australian Supercross Championship has shrunk to just three points over Kiwi, Daryl Hurley.in the weekend’s penultimate round of the championship.

Held at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, the event saw Anderson tangle with another rider and finish sixth in the 20-lap main race, which went to Lee Hogan (Yamaha) from Anderson’s main title rival Daryl Hurley (Suzuki) and Danny Ham (Yamaha).

Observers were surprised to see Anderson jump up from the crash and remount, desperate to salvage as many points as possible. The damage to his championship prospects was ten points lost to Hurley, on a night when Anderson had again gone undefeated through his heats and semi finals, and was looking clearly the fastest rider on the track.

The three-point gap between the two is certain to make the final round of the championship at the Sydney Superdome in three months time, an even more tense and exciting affair.
