Is the New Zealand round of the SuperMoto World Series a go?
I don`t know. Do you?

SuperMoto is most certainly alive and well in Australia as these articles indicate.

Australian Mark Avard has confirmed his intentions to head overseas to compete in the 1st round of the World Supermoto Championship.

The chance of a lifetime has been offered to Avard to ride a factory backed Husaberg 650, and with the help of some locals and Metzler, the inaugural round at Belgium will have an Aussie facing the starter.

Yamaha's support comes with the announcement that ticketing will be available very soon including around 2000 seats in grandstands to be brought in specially for the event and located at different sections of the track ensuring no action is going to be missed.

On top this spectators will have a chance to catch a speedway and freestyle jumping show on Saturday evening/ night with campsites located nearby in the township of Broadford. Support events and Yamaha's own Allan Morrison with his stunt riding antics will also feature during the weekend ensuring an action packed racing weekend.

Options to pre purchase tickets for Grandstand seats and two-day general admission tickets will see a substantially discounted price. As well as a trade alley, family entertainment has been emphasized with even a jumping castle to keep the littlelys occupied. There will be provision for wildcard riders in the senior GP with positions available for juniors, the juniors will have an opportunity to showcase their skills with the Wold's best.

Yamaha are keen to have some of their top riders compete as wild cards for the end of year event and its anticipated that bikes will be available for them to ride. A great opportunity for Australian overseas-based riders to run in front of a home crowd at a fun event.

Yamaha's association with motorcycle racing is varied and this shows the foresight that Yamaha has for Supermoto racing in being able to be involved in a discipline which at the moment is in a midst of experiencing a huge ground swell of support.

Darryl Hiddle, President of Motorcycling Victoria said, "This is so important that we have been able to be associated with a forward thinking company like Yamaha and that they have seen the value in supporting this event. Together with MV, this will allow us to bring people back to Broadford, a great complex for Motorcycling especially after the loss of the MX GP."
