THE HEAT IS ON IN BULGARIA

M J Church Kawasaki riders Espen Blikstad and Darryl Atkins both claimed 23rd positions at Round Seven of the World Championship on Sunday. The race was held in Sevilevo, Bulgaria in temperatures up to 400.

Swedish rider Blikstad qualified for his first 125 GP in a strong seventh place in his tough heat race. The GP of Bulgaria was only the second time that the 25 year old had ridden the 125 Kawasaki and the team are very impressed with his progress.

During the main race the M J Church rider suffered with a bad start and struggled on the first two laps to get on the fast pace, but he fought on through the blistering heat and claimed 23rd position after the 35 minute moto.

“It was very hot and a tough race, I made some mistakes on the first laps and then it was hard to catch up. I am very happy with everything and I think I am getting more used to the 125 now. The next GP is in Sweden so I hope to have a good result there”. Stated Blikstad

In the 250 class Kiwi Darryl Atkins qualified well in 24 position, and maintained his strong performance in the main race. Atkins also found himself at the back of the pack on the first lap, but pushed throughout the race to finally claim 23 spot despite crashing.

“I am growing more confident every week and this weekend I hoped to get a few points. I did get close to the group ahead but I made a small mistake and crashed, so it was hard to catch them again, but I am happy with the weekend”. Atkins said

The team backed by Bridgwater based company H M Plant will compete round two of the British International Championship at Foxhill, Nr Swindon this weekend, with Espen Blikstad and Darryl Atkins.
