2003 KX Kawasakis

While Kawasaki have recently had their four-stroke trail and quad range expanded through their alliance with Suzuki, the two-stroke competition machines remain thoroughly Kawasaki.

Kawasaki\'s KX 125 has been very successful in international competition of recent times and that trend is set to continue with the release of the 2003 model KX 125.

All new from the ground up the 2003 KX 125 the new machine boasts new suspension at both ends, new ignition system, carburettor, engine, wheels, brakes and bodywork. Most certainly a major revamp!

Kawasaki claim there is a noticeable improvement in top-end power from the new engine. A new piston and crankshaft reside in a new cylinder bore and crankcase respectively. The bore is chrome-composite coated, a first for Kawasaki\'s KX, and features revised porting and \'KIPS\' valve. A new TMX38X carburettor, with a \'double-curved\' slide, handles fuel delivery.

A new high-tensile steel perimeter frame holds all the new components in place. A hydro formed and tapered swingarm suspends a lighter rear wheel assembly.

Fork offset has been increased by 3mm, out to 25mm from the previous model\'s 22mm, and matches up nicely with the new 27.5-degree rake angle.

It\'s bigger sibling, the 2003 KX 250 M1, has also come in for some serious attention.

Also boasting the new chrome-composite plating the 249cc two-stroke engine has a wider spread of power with even more top-end punch. Combustion chamber shape has been revised along with airbox and expansion chamber design.

Helping to keep all that power under control is a new perimeter frame and revised geometry. A new ratchet style shift mechanism works on the 5-speed gearbox, which features taller 2nd and 3rd gears.

The fully adjustable 48mm forks are now bronze anodised while the rear brake has grown by 20mm.
