Yamaha Australia have been announced as naming rights sponsors of the Australian round of the new SuperMoto World Championship.

This exciting event is planned for the weekend of November 9-10 at Victoria’s Broadford circuit. Unfortunately this date clashes with the final round of the Australian SuperBike Championship. Organisers have tried to resolve this with the world body but their efforts have come to no avail.

Nevertheless we can expect to see what is probably the world’s best motorcycle spectacle take place in our own back yard.

Catering for up to 2000 grandstand seats is being arranged and tickets are expected to go on sale shortly. A speedway and freestyle jumping show will entertain those brave souls who choose to camp around the Broadford area in order to catch the Saturday night entertainment.

Around 20 ‘wildcard’ places will be available in the Senior SuperMoto GP with another 20 position available for 15-21 year olds in the juniors race.

P.S. - That`s great for them, but what is happening on the NZ scene?
I haven`t heard anything positive. Have you?
