M J Church Kawasaki will go to the Austrian GP with a full team this weekend. Kiwi, Darryl Atkins who has also been struggling with injury throughout the season, is confident of making it into the main race this weekend on his 250cc Kawasaki.

He said, “I like the track in Austria and I have been working hard with my mechanic over the past weeks, it has been a tough season, because I started the year with quite a serious injury, but I am hopeful that this weekend will be the turning point I need.”

He will be joined by Swedish rider, Espen Blikstad who will take the place of Tallon Vohland at round six of the World Championship.

American ace Vohland will be out of action for some time after breaking his back in the Italian GP, however he is hoping to make a full recovery and be back on the track for the last few rounds of the Championship.

After a number of scans and x-rays it was confirmed that the 29 year old from Sacremento, California had damaged two vertebrae in the top of his back. But there is no injury to his neck as Doctors first feared and Vohland may be back sooner than first anticipated.

The team backed by Bridgwater based company H M Plant, will replace Tallon for this round of the championship and will review the situation again after the Austrian GP.

The team is currently in Belgium with both Darryl and Espen preparing for the GP in Austria this weekend.
