Riders from all over Australia and from New Zealand are making their way to Western Australia for the 2002 Gas Gas Australian Four Day Enduro Championship.
The fact that the event has been staged on the same weekend as the traditional Manjimup MX event in Western Australia, one of Australia\'s richest single MX meets, is a result of poor planning but nonetheless the A4DE has secured a good entry list.

The native jarrah forest of the Darling Scarp and the hilly pine forests near Harvey, ninety minutes south of Perth, play host to this year’s event, which will run from May 31 to June 3. The event will consist of a variety of challenging trail sections and special tests each day, culminating in a natural terrain final at the picturesque Harvey Commonage on WA’s Foundation Day.

The Trail and Enduro Motorcycle Club of WA, responsible for running the event, says the A4DE will be a great event for all levels of rider. The event is anticipated to provide the region with a substantial financial boost through tourism, accommodation and associated services.

The first three days will consist of three different courses. Each day will have one remote time check which will be visited twice each lap. Riders will return to the paddock area half way through the day and again at the end of the day. Two cross tests and two enduro tests will be held near the central control, and the final motocross test will be held near the Parc Fermé area.

Over 200 riders have entered the event so far, hailing from all around Australia and New Zealand.

In the A4DE, daily service sessions run for fifteen minutes – that’s if you’re on time and running to schedule. So any maintenance that needs doing has to be completed within that small time frame (air filter change, tyre changes and the like).
