A Good Ride:

The Martinborough MCC have at last had the day they deserve.
Over the last few years this event has developed a reputation for being a bit of a mud bath but today could hardly have been better. A bit of overnight rain meant that the course was a bit slippery in places and there were a few bogs for the unwary but there was nothing to phase the trail riders, let alone the competitors.

Wayne Finlayson made sure that the trail times were fairly loose for the first 70 km loop, with only a few riders loosing time. The second loop tightened up considerably, enough so that everyone lost at least a few minutes.

Brett Crighton (YZ250F) had a narrow victory over Spence McClintock (YZ250F) in the Expert class and Murray Gemmell (WR426F) managed to hold off a hard charging Grant Yearbury (KTM 520) in the Veterans.

There were only positive comments about the track with the consensus being that it was an absolute blast.

As if a great ride wasn\'t enough, Leigh, Wayne, & the club then laid on a keg, some venison steaks, a delicious venison stew, hot potatoes, salad, sausages, and even a huge tray of hot apple shortcake for dessert.
