Multiple New Zealand champion, Tony Rees will not be taking part in today\'s third round of the Yamaha Formula Xtreme as a result of injuries he suffered yesterday.
Rees fell from his Bikebiz Yamaha YZF R1 during the second qualifying session on Saturday at Turn Three and was the fifth fastest rider on the time sheets.
Initial reports suggested that Rees had bruised his right hip and leg, but last night he was x-rayed with the results showing that he had actually suffered a number of minor fractures to his hip.
His non-appearance will be a blow to the fans that are turning up for today\'s racing as the talented Kiwi has been a consistent front runner this season, currently holding down fourth place in the overall points chase.
