Queenstown’s Scott Colomb again took the overall honours, in the South Island round Two of the National Cross Country Championship, held at Dipton, 20kms north of Winton, on Sunday 24th March.

The Gore and Districts Motorcycle Club staged an excellent event.

The track consisted of 20km of rolling rocky countryside, early leaders, Lachie Columb and Brendan Cornish, both riding Honda CRF 450’s, suffered similar fates, a puncture which cost them a lap. Leaving the way clear for Scott Columb on his Suzuki DRZ400 to take the overall win, from Nelson’s Ian Thornecroft on his Yamaha WR400, with Christchurch’s Kelly Patterson third on a Yamaha WR250.
