Kiwi riders won both the Open Class and the 125cc class at the second round of the Australian Motocross Championship on the fast flowing Green Park track near Conondale in Queensland on Sunday 24th March.

This year sees seven of New Zealand’s best riders contesting the Australian Championships. The series is fast becoming one of the best in the world, with the racing between the top ten riders becoming closer and closer. The combination of Aussie’s best and New Zealand’s finest is leading to some classic battles.

Hamilton based International, Darryl King (Yamaha YZ465) fought hard all weekend with the KTM pair of Craig Anderson and Shayne King, but ended the weekend on top, with a third and two wins.

The win puts King ten points clear of Anderson in the title chase.

While Tauranga’s Peter Bloxholme arrived from New Zealand with next to nothing and was taken under his wing by Vernon Clark of Griffin Motorcycles in Brisbane. Clark supplied Bloxholme a stock Honda CR125, on which they only changed the silencer.

Bloxholme then went out and took three wins from three starts to take the overall win for the weekend. The 75 points he scored puts him in third place overall.
