Red Riders to go head to head at 4-stroke champs

Fresh from the second round of the Australian Motocross Championships in Brisbane, Castrol Honda Red Riders Cody Cooper and Peter Broxholme have flown home to contest this weekend’s National 4-stroke Championships in Whangarei.

Peter pulled off an impressive 1-2-3 in Brisbane on his CR125 but will be mixing it with the bigger bikes at the Nationals, as both he and Cody will be riding the CRF450.

Race Team manager Dave Borlase expects the Red Riders team mates to push each other hard. “Cody and Peter don’t often get to go head to head, as Peter is usually on the CR125. They’re both great young riders with a lot of drive, so it should make for some exciting racing.”

A big field is expected at the Nationals this year, as 4-stroke motocross is really taking off with local riders.

“There are more and more top riders out there,” says Dave Borlase. “They are riding a range of machines from Yamaha, Honda, KTM and Suzuki, but the CRF450 has proven to be incredibly popular, considering the short time it has been on the market.”
