Cambridge based Motocross rider Mike Cotter has made the change from Yamaha to Kawasaki and will ride his new Kawasaki bikes in both Australia and New Zealand.

After unexpectedly losing the ride for his Australian Yamaha Team, Mike was forced to look elsewhere for another ride.

He was approached by Mid-Town Kawasaki (Brisbane) with the offer of a ride in the 125cc Class, and through the help of both Kawasaki Australia and Kawasaki New Zealand has been able to contract with Kawasaki in both countries.

The Australian titles are held over 5 rounds during the period March to May, so Mike will be based in Brisbane for the duration with his Mid-Town Kawasaki Team.

He will also contest the New Zealand 125cc Motocross title, riding for M.R. Motorcycles of Pukekohe. The New Zealand titles are also over 5 rounds this year, commencing in June and concluding in October.

Mike says he is really looking forward to being part of the M.R. Motorcycles Kawasaki Team and has found the Kawasaki 125cc two-stroke to be more than competitive. His final race before heading to Australia will be the Auckland Champs on 3rd March.

Twenty seven year old Cotter, a former and 3 times NZ National Motocross Champion, said that Kawasaki offered a new opportunity with new goals to achieve.
