King and Hurley Dominate MX Champs

Hamilton’s Darryll King and Hawera’s Daryl Hurley dominated Round One of the New Zealand Motocross Championship held over the weekend in Mosgiel.
King riding for Yamaha, won five of the nine races run, with Hurley on a Suzuki winning the other four.

The Mosgiel and Districts Motorcycle Club stage an excellent meeting, but the weather had the last say. Saturday saw fine weather for practice and qualifying, but shortly after racing started the showers began, however they were able to run three races for each class.
Extremely heavy rain overnight, saw the event cancelled after just three of the scheduled six races per class had been run. A meeting of all parties (riders, the club and officials) decided it was not safe to continue racing on Sunday.
