Tauranga’s Peter Broxholme took maximum points again, in the 125cc class at round two of the Asian Supercross Championship in Pakenbau, Indonesia on Sunday 23 September.

The track at Pakenbau, is built inside a soccer stadium, unfortunately the crowd of 20,000 enthusiastic Indonesians, pulled down a security fence and invaded the course, making it extremely dangerous for the riders during the two motos.

In 40 C and very very high humidity the 19-year old Kiwi riding his 2002 model Honda CR125, had a serious off into a fence during the support race, after trouble with the crowd. He remounted and rode hard back into fourth. The accident only increased his resolve to win the event.

In the Asian Supercross Championship race, Broxholme took the win by 15 seconds from Yoyi Osaki of Japan also on a Honda CR 125, with Australian Jye Harvey third. Fourth and fifth went to Thailand and Indonesia respectively. The ecstatic crowd all wanting to touch him after his win, mobbed Broxholme and he had to be rescued by security.
