Cooper extends lead in Taupo Winter Series

Castrol Honda Red Rider Cody Cooper extended his series lead at Taupo on 27 May with a blistering performance on the CR125, winning two races and finishing second behind fellow Red Rider Peter Broxholme in the third. Broxholme had a mixed day, getting involved in an unfortunate tangle of riders in one race, but balancing this with a first and a second in the other two races.

Teammate Ben Harding rode the HRC XR650 and once again showed against top riders that the XR650 is still the bike to beat. Harding won the first two races, and recovered from a crash to finish fourth in the third.

Race team manager Dave Borlase said: ‘The Castrol Honda Red Riders had a great weekend – their rider and fitness training regime is really starting to pay off. We were also very happy to see Richard (Dic Dog) Adamson making such good progress with the recovery from his shoulder injury. He is clearly on the way back, as shown by his awesome display on the TRX400EX at the weekend. I am hoping that Richard will be back on the HRC XR650 for the Queens Birthday weekend motocross at Tokoroa.’
