Red Riders Make Magic in Hawkes Bay

The Magic MotoCross Series was just that for the Blue Wing Honda Red Riders at the second round held in Hawkes Bay over the weekend of 12th and 13th May.

With a full team turnout to contest all classes, local rider Ben Harding showed his consistent brilliance on the CR250, swapping the lead in the A grade race with fellow Red Riders Paul Whibley (CR250), Cody Cooper (CR125) and Peter Broxholme (CR125). The Blue Wing Honda Red riders blitzed the field, taking the first four places in every race. Despite an obvious horsepower disadvantage, Cooper and Broxholme diced with Whibley and Harding throughout the day’s racing.

In the four stroke class, Red Rider Richard (Dic Dog) Adamson, currently sidelined through injury, lent advice and support to Ben Harding on board Dic Dog’s HRC XR650. Harding was never challenged from start to finish in all three races.

Race team manager Dave Borlase said: ‘We couldn’t have asked for a better result from the boys. They once again demonstrated the form that is establishing them as the dominant team in New Zealand MotoCross. Ben’s results on the XR650 show clearly that he and Dic Dog will be a force to be reckoned with on the new CRF450R, which we will debut at a key event later this year’.
