The North West 200 attracts more than 100,000 fans.

The North West 200 has been called off because of the foot-and-mouth crisis.
Organisers, the Coleraine & District Motorcycling Club announced the decision on Thursday evening.

The move was expected after the Northern Ireland executive earlier in the day had recommended that the event should not go ahead.

Coleraine & District Club secretary Mervyn White said that the event would not be re-scheduled for later in the year.

\"We have accepted the decision of the executive and this year\'s race will not take place,\" said Mr White.
