New Plymouth’s Shaun Harris, today announced he has signed with the UK factory-backed Suzuki race team TAS Racing, to compete at the three major road race street circuits in the northern hemisphere, the North West 200, the Isle of Man TT and the Ulster Grand Prix.

While in Ireland, Harris will also compete at three circuit road race meetings. On completing his street racing campaign, Harris will take up duties as the official reserve rider for two of the short circuit teams contesting the British 600 SuperSport Championship.

For the street circuits, Harris will ride a full European 600 Supersport Spec’d Suzuki GSXR600, a Superstock (similar to New Zealand Sports Production) Suzuki GSXR1000 and a full blown F1 Spec’d GSXR1000, which will be set up with OHLINs front and rear to Hawera’s Robert Taylor’s specifications.

“Being the reserve rider for the British Championship is an excellent opportunity, the level of riding is second to none. I will get to do lots of testing and will be Johnny on the spot, should anything happen to one of the riders. NOT BAD FOR AN OLD GUY! It’s fantastic to be a part of the Suzuki family” Harris said from his Taranaki home today.
