HARD DAY AT THE OFFICE FOR REES

Posted: Mon 19 Feb 2001

After a grueling all-night session working on his bike, Kawerau’s Tony Rees took his Bikebiz Yamaha R1 to third overall at the end of round one of the Australian 2001 Yamaha Tri-state Formula Xtreme Series yesterday at Eastern Creek Raceway.

“This was my first weekend with the new R1. I’ve worked more hours on the bike this weekend, than I have in total, on my two bikes at home,” said Rees from Sydney last night.

Rees scored a second, two thirds and a fourth behind the Team Yamaha R1 of Robbie Baird and a mixture of Craig Coxhell and Jamie Stauffer’s R1s and Luke Phillips’ Honda CBR 929.
The results of race three were under review, as it had been suggested the winner Robbie Baird may have passed under a yellow flag.

Rees is more than happy, with his third overall at the end of round one, as there are four more rounds over five months to go:

28-29 April Oran Park (NSW)
19-2May Queensland Raceway (Q’LD)
16-17 June Phillip Island (Vic)
7-8 July Eastern Creek (NSW)
