Castrol Honda riders Cody Cooper and Richard Adamson turned out for the Gold Nuggets MotoCross event at Ikamatua, near Greymouth, on the 10th and 11th February as part of Blue Wing Honda’s commitment to competing in both islands.

17 year old Cody competed in the 125cc MotoCross category and clean swept all 7 races in that class, going on to win the King of the Gold Nuggets trophy, an open class event.

Richard Adamson, on his standard XR650, raced wheel to wheel with Brian Heaphy’s Suzuki. The New Plymouth Honda rider posted a creditable five second places, a fourth and a first, providing the spectators with an exciting display of open class MotoCross riding.

Castrol Honda race team manager Dave Borlase said: ‘We couldn’t be happier with the performance and placings these two young guys produced for us down south last weekend, and the superb tuning and setup of their Bryan Davidson prepared bikes. We could not be happier with our progress towards achieving our objective, which is ultimately to dominate New Zealand off-road racing.
