Whibley impressive in 4 day Enduro

Current New Zealand enduro champion Paul Whibley, riding for the Castrol Honda Team, finished a close second overall to world enduro champion Stephen Merriman at the Australian four day enduro, held at Oparau near Kawhia. Whibley was outright winner of the 250cc class.

This win is a reflection of the brilliant form Paul has shown throughout the season. He adds this title to his 250 MotoCross national ranking (6th) and his great season in SuperCross.

Paul’s placing in the Oparau event is made all the more meritorious by the fact that purpose-built enduro bikes were unable to match the pace and pressure that Paul applied on his CR250 MotoCross bike.

Castrol Honda race team manager Dave Borlase said: ‘We are pleased and proud to have a rider of Paul’s ability in the Red Riders Race Team and it shows clearly that our focus on a small, elite group of riders is paying dividends.
