Barry Sheene had a 4 hour stint in hospital last week after coming to grief with a 100mphhigh side at the Philip Island International Classic meet in Oz.

Sheene, who is as well know for the metal he carries in his body, as the two world 500 championships he won, was riding a \'62 Walmsley Manx Norton when he crashed on the final corner at Hayshed corner.

Sheene, who is now resident in Oz, was held at the Cowes hospital for observation.

On release Sheene, said \"The bike hadn\'t been running well all weekend, so I wasn\'t going to stick my neck out. It just locked up and as I peeled into the turn it spat me over the top. I got a decent whack on the head. I had a headache like you wouldn\'t believe, but I\'m alright.\"

Craig Morris took the Island Classic crown after Sheene finished 2nd in the 2 earlier races
