The Castrol Honda race team had a very successful couple of days at round one of the NZ Super Cross championships held at Nelson on the 6th and 7th of January.

Peter Broxholme was riding superbly and with some close finishes on both days ended up after 6 races to finish 3rd overall. Peter continued with the excellent form he showed at the NZ motocross Championships at Taupo in November and is looking forward to the next two rounds of the NZ Super Cross. He has stated that he is determined to win the NZ Super Cross championship for 2001 and his first senior title.

Cody Cooper finished fourth overall, a good result as a first lap crash in race one on the Saturday saw him having to sit out the rest of the day nursing a badly bruised hand. Stacey Oldeman, the motocross specialist, rode well to finish sixth and Richard Adamson, riding a standard XR650, finished a creditable eighth. Adamson also rode in the 500cc four stroke race invitation race where he showed all the pukka 4 stroke motocross bikes a clean pair heels and won as he pleased.

The second round of the NZ Super Cross championship is at Taupiri on the 13th of January.

Paul Whibley, riding a Castrol Honda CR250, continues from where he left off last year and showed the quality field the way home by more than a minute in round 2 of the Belray Cross Country event at Huntly, Paul backed this up with a fine 3rd at the Whakatane Motocross, following Stacey Oldeman home. Stacey was too good for everyone on the day, finishing first overall.

Cody Cooper put in some superb riding to win the 125 class.
