Kawerau’s Tony Rees, returns to Wanganui Cemetery Circuit next Tuesday Dec 26 ready to do battle. Wanganui is Round One of the Battle of the Streets followed by Round Two at Gisborne on Jan 2 and the Final Round is at Paeroa on March 11.
Fresh from his day in the sun at Pukekohe last weekend, when he won both the Superbike and Open Sports Production Tourist Trophies on his pair of Yamaha R1s, Rees believes his Yamahas will be ideal for the tight Wanganui circuit.
“Last weekend we were able to hold out the opposition in the Superbike and Open Sports Production Classes and we are looking forward to doing the same at Wanganui,” said Rees.
Last year Rees missed both Wanganui and Gisborne in favour of a family Christmas at home in Kawerau, this year he will be back on the Christmas Day treadmill, travelling down to Wanganui.
Rees was heard to say “One Christmas at home was enough for us.” and his wife Vicky agreed.
