Featherston’s Corrie Sargent scored six wins from six races in the 500cc Class, at Round One of the 2000 Motocross Championship at the weekend, to move on to the Final Round next week at Taupo, with a commanding 40 point lead.
The two-day meeting was held on virgin grass paddocks, just outside Carterton, in hot sunny conditions.
Sargent riding the Maidstone Yamaha YZ426 leads from veteran rider Bryan Patterson (returning to top class racing after a number of years) of Rotoroa, who finished on 80 points for the weekend. Third was Bryan Heaphy of Nelson on 77 points.
“The weekend could not have gone better. We are looking forward to Taupo next weekend,” said Sargent
