This weekend will see Featherston\'s Corrie Sargent begin the defence of his National 500cc Motocross Title at round one of the National Motocross Championships at Carterton.
The 21-year-old will be racing the Maidstone Yamaha backed 2001 model Yamaha YZ426.
Earlier this year Sargent competed in the Australian round of the WORLD 500cc MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP and acquitted himself well coming home 19th overall with a 25th and a 14th.
\"I was very happy, my goal was to make the race, a top 20 finish was a bonus,\" said Sargent.
Sargent,who won the Open Class Title at the recent Winter Series in September is confident going into these championships.
