Kings crown supercross

Posted: Fri 03 Nov 2000

The three \"Kings\"of New Zealand motorcross will appear together in the same team for the first time ever with Darryll, Shayne and Damien King signing up for the New Zealand team to take on the US and Australian riders at the Mystery Creek Supercross.

With Darryll back from Europe , Shayne squeezing in the Mystery Creek event between an overseas ride and Damien back in the country - bringing the three kings together is a coup for the Mystery Creek Supercross year 2000 event organisers. Both Darryll and Shayne competed together in September at the Motocross Des Nations with Kiwi ace Josh Coppins, but younger brother Damien, now also back from Europe will join his two older brothers for the international indoor event in Hamilton.

A hard charging overseas campaign for Darryll came to a grinding halt through injury earlier in the year and Shayne\'s US ride was dogged with technical support problems, however both riders are expected to relish the chance to perform in front of their kiwi fans. Shayne has been assisting the Mystery Creek Events Centre in securing the US team which organisers will be announcing next week.

Hot shot Darryl Hurley who had a second place podium finish in last years King of the Creek will return from Australia on the second weekend adding extra grunt to an already impressive kiwi line up.

Marketing & Sales Manager Vince Stockdale, in announcing the three brother coup said dirt bike fans will get more than they bargained for at this years event.

\"Getting Darryll, Shayne and Damien in the same country at the same time was never going to be easy. Working around their overseas commitments and testing schedules was tough, but the guys are keen to mix it up with the Aussies and Americans as much as we are to see them do it. Having our own 3 - Kings of Supecross front up against the Australian Metcalfe brothers and the US guns will be something to see - this will be the motorsport event of the year!\"

The Mystery Creek Supercoss is scheduled over two weekends commencing on Friday November 24. Tickets are in hot demand and are available by phoning 0800-00-44-44 or by visiting www.supercross.co.nz
