Root 100

Lots of camping available. Come for New Years. You can ride in the days before the event.

This will be a THREE HOUR cross country, very tight and hard. The idea is to challenge the average rider, provide some great viewing, and have a awesome start to the New Year.

Proposed format for the root 100.

I think its boring to have the laps too long so will try and have just the bush loops. Around 40 minutes-1hr, 3 or 4 taped "sections" with marshalls to help you through and ensure everone completes them.

Assuming its dry it will be rideable by most, just hard to do fast. we have found some pretty cool new bits, an extension to Wikipunga with unrideable drop off, new loop off white gate.

Pa and woolshed pines hillclimb (any expert only hill will have marshalls (german backpackers!) and ropes!) Got a bulldozer here at the moment linking up some new bush tracks at the end of white gate.

Should be able to get some holidaymakers off the beaches of Russell, Bland Bay and Oakura.

Event will run like a sprint series with timed laps. say start at 9 last lap before 3. seeded start, one rider each 30 sec or so.

You have all day to do 5 laps if you can, or just one.

• $500 for fastest lap.
• $500 for fastest 5 laps.
• 10x $50 for fastest lap in age categories; 16 and under, under20,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50+, ladies

($500 winner(s) can't win the $50's)

$50 entry or $30 if you do the crazy cross the day before ($30)

Thinking it will be possible for the faster times to come later in the day as you learn the track, so some cunning may be required!. Pretty sure we can get it so nothing becomes impassable. Will need to work out free camping deal for riders???

For those staying here over new years they can practice the track (and help!!)
